There are quite a few talented writers among Badaga ladies, both in English and Tamil. In the former, the name that comes to mind straight away is Mrs. Indu K Mallah whose articles have appeared in many papers and publications, including dramas that have been aired on BBC. She has a novel to her credit. Another lady who has brought out a book on health matters is Mrs.Anitha Gokul, a social activist who is fighting for justice to small tea planters most of whom are Badagas.
There are some professional journalists like Ms.Pakshalika Jayaprakash whose articles have been published in Times of India, PC Quest and Living Digital.
Now I have come across a piece written by Ms.Yogitha Ramamoorthy, who is a fashion designer – many of her designs have found a market in the European market through some Tirupur Exporters. Below is an extract of her article. Her book on fashion titled ‘Stay in Style….’ is awaiting publication.
